Direct Cooling Technology
A key component of any evaporator is the condenser. Legacy rotary evaporator condensers make use of either:
- fragile dry ice condensers which need to frequently be refilled;
- recirculating chillers which are slow to get cold and use large volumes of coolant; or
- a continuous stream of tap water
These options are wasteful and inefficient.
We have replaced them all with an ultra-cold Direct Cooling condenser which is cooled directly by refrigerant from a compressor and has a metal cooling coil for superior heat transfer. This eliminates consumable waste, can achieve a temperature of -20°C in one minute, and is far more energy efficient. This means lower cost, faster runs, and greater convenience.
How much more efficient? A University of Oxford lab compared Ecodyst’s benchtop rotovap to the most popular brand. You can see their results.
